Football: Buckley United dumped out of cup as Saltney Town smash 11

AFTER their two-week enforced break due to weather, Buckley United hit the ground with a bump on their return as they crashed out of the North East Wales FA Cup 5-3 at Overton.

In the league Premier Division HAWARDEN RANGERS failed to stop Gresford Athletic rewriting their club history.

They were aiming to beat the record for the longest unbeaten by a Gresford side at home but Rangers seemed destined to spoil the party when Royston Cartwright capitalised on a defensive mix-up to give the visitors the lead.

It didn’t last as Richard Driffield levelled the score before Mike Pugh scored the winner, Gresford finishing 2-1 up.

In Division One CASTELL ALUN put recent poor form behind them, beating Penley 2-0 with goals from James Gibney and Alun Williams.

SALTNEY TOWN dominated HAWKESBURY 11-0.

Matthew Howard gave them the lead with a rocket on 12 minutes before Chris Woodward scored a hat-trick in just 10 minutes.

Another treble from Andy Johnson, two from Phil Whittaker and strikes from Shane Parry and Shaun Hughes polished off a great performance.

In the Reserves Division AIRBUS played Rhos Aelwyd, finishing al square after three dismissals.

Tom Littler levelled for Airbus after they fell behind.
