Football: Holywell Town claim a point from Barmouth encounter

HOLYWELL Town enjoyed the highest attendance of the day – 152 – as they drew 1-1 with Barmouth and Dyffryn in Division One of the Welsh Alliance.

With most of the Alliance teams tied up in the Welsh Cup, the Wellmen had a crucial opportunity to get points on the board and they did manage to get one thanks to a late equaliser.

The visitors took the lead after 15 minutes when Ryan Thomas pounced. Holywell had to wait until five minutes from time to level, Wayne Edwards securing a share of the spoils.

In Division Two, GREENFIELD enjoyed a 4-1 win over Nantlle Vale.

After going behind in the sixth minute to a Shane Rowlands strike, Greenfield came back thanks to goals from Jamie Towie (2), Keith Ainsworth and Wayne Bayliss.

It was not such a happy ending for HALKYN UNITED as they were on the wrong end of a 7-1 mauling by Kinmel Bay Sports.

Halkyn were 4-0 down in the second half when Tom Higginson scored their goal.

It was too late to contemplate a comeback and Kinmel Bay went on to score three more before the final whistle.
