Football: Holywell Town exit Presidents Cup

HOLYWELL Town have been eliminated from the President’s Cup in the second round.

The Wellmen went to Prestatyn Town on Tuesday and lost 4-0.

Reserve Premier side FLINT TOWN RESERVES lost 6-2 at home to Denbigh Town.

In the Welsh Alliance the Wellmen claimed an away win at Llanfairpwll.

Their 3-1 win keeps them at the top of the Division One table, but they had to come from behind, Sam Jones, Wayne Edwards and Gareth Thomas on target in the end.

In Division Two, GREENFIELD won their Flintshire derby against Connah’s Quay Town 1-0 thanks to a 68th minute strike from Shaun Pritchard.

HALKYN UNITED almost threw away their chances of progress in the Take Stock Van Hire Cup.

After winning the first leg of their second round tie against Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 3-0, United made the trip for the second leg almost assured of their place in the draw, so long as they gave a good account of themselves.

But the home side hit Halkyn with everything they had.

United held on however and despite losing the leg 2-0 they went into the hat for round three, winning 3-2 on aggregate.
