A SINGLE goal is all that separated first and second after Holywell Town regained top spot in the Welsh Alliance Division One on Saturday.
They are level on points with Caernarfon Town with only a slightly superior goal difference giving the Wellmen the advantage.
That goal came via Paul Williams as Holywell defeated visiting Llanfairpwll 2-0.
Sam Jones put the Wellmen ahead on 18 minutes and 10 minutes later, Williams scored the goal that took his side top.
The Wellmen have a fight on their hands however as Town hold three games in hand over the Flintshire side.
Amlwch Town put daylight between themselves and basement rivals Connah’s Quay Town in Division Two.
The visitors escaped with a 1-0 victory to open up a three-point gap between themselves and Quay.
Division Two’s bottom club Halkyn United finally succumbed in the semi finals of the Take Stock Van Hire Cup.
They were eliminated 5-2 by promotion-chasing Llanberis on the road.
Llanberis controlled the entire game, scoring at regular intervals, but towards the end Halkyn showed signs of life when in the last two minutes, Andrew Howells and Andrew King both struck.
