Football: Holywell Town to face Glan Conwy in Barritt Cup semi final

THE semi final of the Barritt Cup will pit Holywell Town against Glan Conwy on Saturday (2.30pm).

The Wellmen – without a game in the Welsh Alliance last week – had already made it to the semis and on Saturday Glan Conwy beat Llandyrnog 5-2 to line up a tie at Holywell’s Halkyn Road ground.

With Connah’s Quay Town left without a game in Division Two due to Blaenau Ffestiniog being unable to raise a team, the only Flintshire side in action last weekend was Greenfield.

They suffered a 5-1 defeat at home to Llanberis, who even scored Greenfield’s goal as an own goal was all that prevented a clean sheet.

Having established themselves safely in mid-table, Greenfield will travel to face Amlwch Town on Saturday.

Halkyn United are also in action, as they try to improve their chances of climbing off the bottom by springing a surprise defeat on high-flying Kinmel Bay Sports.

The Wellmen may be in the title race, but the Golden Boot is likely to elude them.

In Division One, Wayne Edwards is currently third in the goalscoring charts with 19, nine goals behind leader Gareth Davies of Bethesda.

Holywell’s Sam Jones is fourth with 18 goals.
