A DOMINANT display by the Flintshire Flyers U12s saw them annihilate Grimsby Redwings 16-1 in the final game of the season at Deeside Ice Rink.
The Deeside Junior Ice Hockey Club side finished third in the league after delivering a polished performance, constantly keeping the Grimsby netminder under pressure.
As a result, the visiting stopper was awarded the Spirit of the Game title for his tireless efforts to keep the Flyers at bay.
But Flintshire were not to be denied.
James Shaw led the rout with a magnificent five-goal haul and Callum Wilson followed close behind with four.
Liam Evans grabbed a hat-trick while Libor Krempasky added his name to the scoresheet with a double.
With the result not in doubt, Erik Tuft and Scott Fisher each scored to finish the game off.
Flintshire’s Spirit of the Game award went to Sam Galadja for his sterling defensive work to keep a lid on any attacks launched by the Redwings.
Despite the gulf in class, Grimsby earned the Flyers’ respect for refusing to give-up and staying focused and sportsmanlike to the final buzzer.
