Ice hockey: Flintshire Raptors too strong for Solihull

FLINTSHIRE Raptors U10s won their final game of the season on Saturday against travelling Solihull at Deeside.

The visitors were denied as the Raptors took control early on to win 6-2.

James Shaw and Eric Tuft were the leading goalscorers with two goals each for Flintshire, Louis Morgan and Matthew Hynes each scoring once to complete the victory.

The Spirit of the Game award went to the Raptors’ Josh Jarvis.

As the season has now ended, this is the perfect time to join the club and learn to play ice hockey.

The Raptors are currently looking for new young players to join the U10s squad for the 2011/2012 season.

Whether you have skated before or not, all youngsters are welcome to go along to Deeside Ice Rink in Queensferry and learn the ropes with the fully-qualified Raptors ice hockey coaches.

Friday night is novice night and each session costs £5, which includes the hire of equipment (helmet, pads and stick) so you don’t have to worry about getting fully kitted out to give it a go.

Training begins at 6.15pm but you are advised to get there early to collect and put on your kit to ensure you get maximum ice-time.

Sessions finish at 7.30pm.
