Shotton on fire to beat Buckley in title decider

SHOTTON Steel were crowned the Under 14s Division champions on Saturday after they won their title showdown at Buckley Town Juniors 4-2.

Buckley needed to win the final- match decider to force a play-off, but strikes from Owen Smith, Ryan Edwards, Ross Hughes and Jordan Hewitt ensured it was the Steelmen who end the season in top spot. Daniel Brunning and Lee Jones replied for Buckley.

Connah’s Quay Tigers sealed fourth place with a 2-2 draw at home to Holywell Town Juniors, for whom Tim Davies and Grant Wain netted. Luke Balfour and Gareth Taylor replied for Tigers.

The destiny of the Youth Division championship was decided on Thursday when Flint Town United Youth confirmed pole position with a 2-2 home draw with second-placed Prestatyn Athletic, but the race for honours in the U16s Division remains on.

Wepre Scorpions saw their lead cut to a point on Saturday after they had to settle for a 3-3 draw at home to Connah’s Quay Tigers, (Jake Wynne and Sean Williams 2). Matty Halliwell and Jamie Wynne (2) sealed Wepre’s point.

Mold Juniors’ hopes were hit by a 2-1 home loss to fellow high flyers Hearts Roma, who cancelled out Rhyss Nash’s effort.

Holywell Town Juniors could not do Mold and Wepre a favour as they lost 4-2 at home to Prestatyn Albion, who fell behind to Andrew Williams and Ryan Petruzzelli goals but stormed back after the break through Jordan Jones (2) and Jake Smith (2).

Mynydd Isa Youth and Ewloe Harriers shared a 2-2 draw.

There was last-game U12s Division joy for Flint-Bagillt Juniors as they powered to a 9-1 success at Phoenix.

Hitman Daniel Butler (4), Kyle Johnson (2), Niall Roberts (2) and Rhys Park did the damage, with Mark Davies offering Phoenix’s consolation.

Buckley Town Vipers completed their U13s Division campaign with a 7-1 victory at Flint-Bagillt Juniors.

Hat-trick hero Kris Turner (3), Connor Littler, Jared Jones and Rhys Edwards (2) found the net for Buckley, Hayden Hughes for Flint.
