Junior football: Mynydd Isa progress in Under 13s NEWFA Cup

MYNYDD Isa Young Guns booked their place into the second round of the U13 NEWFA Cup thanks to an Alex Hawkins brace at Borras Park Albion.

But Mold Knights suffered a first-round exit at home to Marford/Gresford. Connor Maguire and Daniel McCarthy netted to make the score 2-2, but two extra-time goals for the visitors sealed the result.

In the all-Flint league U13 game, Flint Town Juniors overpowered Flint Colts 4-0. Goals came from Dylan Roberts, Matthew Gilsennan, Harri Jones and an own goal.

Thomas Hyndman scored four times for Flint Town Juniors Under 12s as they beat Holywell Town Juniors 7-2. Jacob Jones, Jordan Johnson and Leon Beck scored for the winners, while Jake Cooke and Kyle Jones scored for Holywell.

Hawarden outgunned Broughton Super Saints 6-2. Hawarden’s goals came from Thomas Gunson (2), Arron Davies (2), Daniel Fredikson and Lewis Jones. Joe Salisbury (2) got the visitors’ consolations.

Goals from Tom Blackwell, Jac Morgan and Dominic Elsey-McHugh gave Mold Dragons a 3-2 win at Mold Sparks, who scored through Ronan Burger and Sean Mason.

Buckley Town Juniors (George Hayes, Lewis Musgrave) won at home to Mynydd Isa and Connah’s Quay Tigers (Leon Brick, Jake Griffiths, Jamie Quirk, Owen Brown) beat Deeside Phoenix.
