Flintshire Junior & Youth League: Shotton Steel move three points clear at top of Under 15s Division

SHOTTON Steel moved three points clear at the top of the Queensferry Sports Flintshire Junior & Youth League Under 15s Division on Saturday – with a little help from Flint Town Juniors.

The table toppers made it eight wins from eight with a 10-2 triumph at Mold Alex but second-placed Buckley Town United’s 100% winning start to the season came to an end as they lost 1-0 at home to dark horses Flint.

Chris Inskip (4), Andrew Jones (3), Thomas Bibby (2) and Jack Chambers shared the Steelmen’s strikes in their victory over Mold, for whom Adam Kendrick and Ryan Bailey reduced the arrears.

Third-placed Ewloe Harriers (Adam Randles 2, John Martin, Owen Ashton, Sam Lloyd, Sion Antrobus) ran out 6-2 winners at home to Penyffordd (Jacob Lewis, Joe Walsh), who slipped to sixth after Ysceifiog Wolves (Luke Evans) won 1-0 at Mynydd Isa Devils.

Holywell Town Juniors (Jordan Foster 2, Philip Hodby, Alex Davies) edged a seven-goal thriller 4-3 at Connah’s Quay Tigers (James Hardwick, Curtis Deane, Joe Moore).

Hawarden Rangers (Ryan Pritchard 2, Kieran Birchall 2, Andrew Morgan, Daniel Beach, Scott Oates) booked their place in the second round of the Challenge Cup with a 7-1 success at home to Buckley Town Wanderers (Adam Elliott).

Mynydd Isa Young Guns remained one point clear at the top of the Under 14s Division by winning 6-1 at Holywell Town Juniors on Saturday.

Mark Asplet (2), Alex Hawkins, Liam Davies and Nathan Griffith found the net for the Young Guns, who also benefited from an own goal, with Callum Wellings pulling a goal back for the Wellmen.

Shotton Steel (Nathan Mendosa 2, Iwan Rogers, Joe Johnson) strengthened their grip on second spot with a 4-1 victory at home to third-placed Flint Town Juniors (Matthew Gilsenan).

There was also a 4-1 win for Mold Alex Hornets (Liam Foster 2, Liam Bruford 2) away to Broughton Super Saints (Keiran Barratt).

Broughton Super Saints Boro (Joe Henry 2, Daniel Shaw, Liam Williams, Phillip Jones, OG) fared better, triumphing 6-1 at Holywell Town Juniors (Michael Guest).

Flint Town Colts (Jack Collins, Matthew Elliott) beat Halkyn United Juniors (Edward Moore) 2-1 while Hawarden Rangers left Buckley Town Juniors as 5-2 winners.
