THOMAS Chrimes showed nerves of steel as Holywell Town Juniors booked their place in the Queensferry Sports Flintshire Junior & Youth League Under 16s Division Challenge Cup semi-finals.
The Wellmen won a closely fought last-eight clash at home to Mynydd Isa Coyotes 1-0 on Saturday thanks to Chrimes’ extra-time penalty.
Aaron Hassell hit a hat-trick and Rhys Lloyd, David Stewart and Liam Hughes were also on target in Penyffordd’s 6-0 success at home to Mold Alex.
Joining Penyffordd and Holywell in the semis are Mostyn Dragons after they won 10-0 at Flint Town Juniors.
Hawarden Rangers remain the only team in the Under 13s Division to boast a perfect winning record after they won 8-0 at Connah’s Quay Tigers on Saturday.
Thomas Gunson (3), Aaron Davies, Daniel Eccleston, James Beach and Ryan Coney and an own goal accounted for the strikes.
Shotton Steel (Kieran Jones 2, Sam Edwards, Evans Edwards) stayed level on points with table-topping Hawarden with a 4-0 win at home to Ysceifiog Wolves.
Brendan Wright, Charlie Christopher, Connor Hughes, Ethan Parry, Jac Morgan and James Carrino were the Mold Alex Dragons marksmen in their side’s 10-2 triumph at Deeside Phoenix (Rhys Jones, Jake Morris).
Ashley Squire, Cameron Jones, Henri Jones, Luke Wooley and Matthew Percy fired Buckley Town Juniors to a 10-1 win at Mold Alex Sparks (Sean Mason).
There was a closer game at Flint Town Juniors (Leon Beck, Thomas Hyndman), where Holywell Town Juniors (Ben Sim, Lewis Marshall, Matthew Trumper) recorded a 3-2 victory.
There were hat-tricks on either side as Holywell Town Juniors won an exciting Under 12s Division contest at home to Penyffordd 5-4.
Jack Swinnerton (3), Jordan Payne and Michael Inskip struck for Holywell; Connor Randall (3) and Dylan Williams for Penyffordd.
Buckley Town Colts (Dawson Butcher, Alex Hannah, Jack Peers) moved up to third with a 3-1 win at home to Hawker Jets (Cain Noble).
Deeside Phoenix (Dominic Fitzpatrick 3, Cole Lambert 2, Jack Jones 2, Charlie Roberts, Lewis Hughes, Luis Delamere, Luke Jones), meanwhile, progressed to the second round of the U12s NEWFA Cup third round with a 10-1 victory at Ewloe Harriers (Baylee Butler).
But Hawarden Rangers and Mynydd Isa Galaxy (Ewan Whitley) are out.
They lost 3-1 at home to Marchwiel United and 4-1 away to Garden Village respectively.
