Football: Six-shooting Sam Edwards secures Shotton Steel result

A SUPER six from Sam Edwards helped Shotton Steel secure a convincing victory over Broughton Super Saints in the under 13s Division as most Queensferry Sports Flintshire Junior and Youth League games fell victim to the weather.

It finished 7-0 with Keiran Jones joining Edwards on the scoresheet.

In the same age group Hawarden Rangers went through in the Challenge Cup, beating Flint Town Juniors 3-1 with goals from Aaron Davies and Thomas Gunson (2), Thomas Hyndman replying for Flint.

Deeside Phoenix defeated hosts Ewloe Harriers in the U12s with Aaron Ord, Coel Lambert and Luis Delamere all scoring two and Will Mourant completing the result.

Hawarden Rangers (Alex Deeley 2, Andrew Oates 2, Corey Jones, Harry Brownbill) saw off Holywell Town Juniors (Danny Boyle, Jack Thompson 2) 6-3 in the U14s.

A Luke Evans double gave Ysceifiog Wolves the points in a 2-0 win over Mynydd Isa Devils in the U15s and Shotton Steel (Rhys Cunnah, Chris Inskip, Ben Waddilove, Jordan Fraser, George Rathbone, Andy Jones) overcame home side Penyffordd (Gethin Thomas) 10-1.

Mynydd Isa Coyotes edged their encounter with Holywell Town Juniors by the odd goal in seven.

A James Lewis hat-trick and a Lloyd Jones strike were just enough as Isa won 4-3, Daniel Simm (2) and Hadyn Wynne scoring for Town.
