Hockey: Northop Hall youngsters learn a lesson against Bangor

BANGOR University 2nds completed a miserable weekend for Northop Hall’s squad as they defeated the fourth team 11-0.

In the opening match of the Division 10 South season, Hall were mismatched against a strong Bangor side.

This is the first season the university has entered this division and they could have a major impact if they can maintain their form.

Any new team entering the league has to start at the lowest division, regardless of their level of ability, and Bangor lived up to expectations that they would be a powerful adversary, dominating the proceedings from very early on.

Hall’s young and inexperienced team, made up with a large contingent of last season’s Badgers, fought hard and demonstrated the right attitude in the face of adversity.

Despite the result, new captain Pete Jones was pleased with his young side’s efforts.

Bangor were simply too much for Hall’s young charges and were humble in victory allowing Hall to at least enjoy getting the season under way, if not the result.

Hall entertain Triton Men’s 3rds on Saturday.
