Golf: Veterans of Mold set up match with Rhuddlan

MOLD Seniors travelled to Rhuddlan Golf Club to face their senior squad in an AM/AM contest.

The Flintshire club was well represented with 28 veteran players making the trip to sample both the golf and the hospitality of their Rhuddlan counterparts.

Both clubs agreed to play formal matches against one another later in the season, which now means that Mold Seniors have a fairly well-stocked fixture card, facing nine other clubs in North Wales in 2012.

Dave Royles and Bob Dukeson conquered the difficult conditions at Rhuddlan to win the betterball medal competition with a net score of 60.

Dave Williams and former Seniors captain Phil le Brocq were second with a net 62.5 with George Taylor and Len Wardle third with 63.

Bill Taylor and George Rogerson showed off their mathematical skills as they led the field of 34 seniors to win a multiplication competition with 67 points.

Bill Hughes topped the bill in the Seniors Individual Stableford at Clays Golf Club.

He scored 38pts to edge it on a countback from Bill Parry, also with 38pts. Fred Court was third with 36.

The Senior Winter Medal Stableford belonged to Stewart Poole, after he won Division One with 39pts over Tony Harcombe with 38.

Bob Brown won Division Two with 40pts.
