Shotton man was found dead with belt around his neck

A YOUNG man was found dead in his bedroom with a canvas belt tied around his neck, an inquest heard.

The body of 24-year-old David Dovey was discovered by his father Peter at the family home on Central Drive, Shotton, in December.

His family told the inquest at Wrexham Magistrates Court today (Tuesday) they had never had any reason to suspect the factory worker wanted to harm himself and could not understand why it had happened.

John Gittins, deputy coroner for North East Wales, recorded an open verdict.

He said he could not be sure Mr Dovey had tied the belt around his neck with the intention of harming himself because there had been no previous clues or signs of depression and he and he had not left a note.
