Update: Knifeman threatened Queensferry shop worker before stealing jewellery

The Gold Shop, Queensferry

POLICE are hunting for a man who stole jewellery after threatening a Queensferry shop worker during an armed robbery.

The incident took place at The Gold Shop in Station Road shortly before 10am today (Tuesday). No-one was injured.

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “Police were alerted to an incident at The Gold Shop in Station Road, Queensferry, at 9.52am.

“A female shop assistant was threatened with a bladed article. The male offender made off with jewellery. We are currently looking at CCTV footage. No-one was hurt during the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”

Queensferry councillor David Wisinger said police helicopters had been circling above Sandycroft.

He added: “There are lots of police about. I’m shocked that something like this has happened in Queensferry.”

Sarah King from the Oasis Hair Company on Station Road said: “We’ve never had any trouble in here and we’ve been here for 10 years. I’m surprised someone would rob the place in broad daylight.

“I thought it had happened overnight at first – they’re obviously brave or stupid.

“The police helicopter has been out and we’ve heard police have been stopping and searching people around Shotton, so they must have run away on foot.”
