Competition winners in flying visit to Airbus Broughton factory

NINE lucky people won a VIP behind-the-scenes tour of Broughton’s Airbus plant.

The winners had given their feedback about the company as part of a competition in Horizons, a magazine sent to the local community with updates about Airbus and the community projects it is involved in.

Most of the visitors were regular readers of the magazine and entered the free draw as they were interested in aircraft manufacture and wanted to see what happens at the West Factory, where wings for Airbus A380 are manufactured and assembled.

Guests were also given a presentation about Airbus and the work done at Broughton by Paul McKinlay, head of the plant.

Before they left, the winners were given a model A380 aircraft.

Connah’s Quay resident, Carole Must, one of the winners, said: “I was most impressed with the factory tour – it seemed like such a pleasant and comfortable working environment and I was fascinated by the sheer amount of parts and processes a wing has to go through from start to completion.”
