GCSE results: Hawarden High School

HAWARDEN High School broke its own records this year, with its best results ever- beating the previous record by 5%.

More than 80% of the year group achieving the Level 2 threshold (grades A*–C).

In total 99% of the year group have achieved at least five pass grades and four/five of the year group have achieved at least five higher grade passes.

And 26 students achieved at least five A* / A grade passes.

Headteacher Roger Davies said: “We have maintained the school’s tradition of every student in the year group achieving a recognised qualification. In order to complement these qualifications, over 70 have achieved key skills qualifications at Level 2 whilst, following their successful work placements in July 2009, 95% of the cohort have achieved a Level 2 CQFW qualification.”

On behalf of the students Mr Davies also paid tribute to the professionalism and dedication shown by teaching and support staff, both during Years 10 and 11 and earlier during the students’ primary and secondary schooling.

He also paid tribute to the parents and representatives of the wider community for their valued contributions and support.

Notable Successes included Hannah Anderton achieved (nine A* / As), Geeta Brown (11 A* / As), Amy Clarke achieved 10 A* / As), Rachel Coxon (11 A* / As), Kristina Gillbanks (nine A* / As), Holly Humphreys achieved nine A* / As), Emily Keeling achieved 11 A* / As) Elanor Percival achieved (11 A* / A s), Charlotte Renshaw (nine 9 A* / As), Tom Sedgwick achieved nine A* / As), Isobel Serey achieved eight A* / As), Matthew Smith achieved 11 A* / As), Monika Taneska achieved 10 A* / As) and Adam Tuft achieved (eight A* /As).
