THIS full disk image of our nearest star the sun was taken using a special Hydrogen Alpha Telescope. The image was taken using a Canon EOS 300d DSLR.
The sun is currently very active and the largest sun spot group seen in over 14 years was discovered this week .Visible in this picture are two mighty solar prominences which are shown on the limb. Also a large filament is visible on the surface.
