A SALTNEY fundraiser is ensuring Chester Racecourse will play host to a large number of runaway brides in aid of a worthy cause.
Victoria Gildea, 30, of Tegid Way, is organising the bridal fun run in aid of her sister-in- law, who died of breast cancer in 2002 aged 32.
Victoria said: “The money will be going toward the Angela Gildea Memorial Fund at the Countess of Chester Hospital’s Breast Cancer Care Unit.
“Most women have a wedding dress or a bridesmaid dress in their wardrobe and we are encouraging them to take part and have fun.
“The event costs £5 to enter, which covers sponsorship, refreshments and a memento of the day, and whatever is left over will go straight to charity.”
The bridal fun run, to take place on September 12, is open to anyone who has a wedding dress or bridesmaid dress, including men prepared to dress up as well.
Fundraising participants will be completing laps of the racecourse and all profits will be going toward the charity.
The memorial fund was set up in tribute to Angela, who died following a five-month battle with the disease.
Since then, family and friends have raised more than £80,000 for the fund, which helped pay for improved equipment at the hospital.
Following the fun run there will be a celebration at the Oddfellows Arms, Frodsham Street.
Chinese lanterns will also be available to buy at the event, in memory of lost loved ones, at £2.
