Christmas market a massive success at Hawarden Estate Farm Shop
DESPITE the wintry weather a Flintshire farm shop has been doing a roaring trade in the run up to Christmas.
Hawarden Estate Farm Shop’s Real Food Christmas Market has enjoyed bumper trading results over the festive season.
Visitors to the market, which ran until December 23, were treated to a whole host of Christmas goodies including hot chestnuts and warm spiced apple juice.
The company, which was recently named Farm Shop of the Year in the National Butcher’s Shop of the Year awards, has been bustling with visitors since the start of the month.
Farm shop manager Alan Downes said that it was ‘emotional’ to see the market come to an end after 21 days.
He said: “What would have been a great Christmas has turned into an amazing one – it has been more than we could have dreamed of.”
Popular products included local cheese, beer and Welsh liqueur.
“We also sold about 500 food hampers,” said Alan.
“They have been very popular presents. In fact they have been so popular that we are going to start selling them throughout the year.
“If 2010 is anything to go by, we are looking forward to a prosperous 2011.”
