A DRUNK man attacked a female neighbour on her own doorstep breaking her nose – then ran away laughing.
Alan Morris, 26, accused the woman of taking his pet dog, when she had actually done him a favour by taking the pet in off the streets late at night and feeding it for him, Mold Crown Court was told.
Morris, formerly of Garden City, admitted assault following the incident at Riverside Park, Garden City, on August 8, and received a 52-week prison sentence suspended for two years.
He was ordered to pay £1,000 compensation to his victim, who was struck to the face with a beer can.
Judge Niclas Parry said: “This was a sickening, thuggish attack upon a woman when you had a weapon in your hand,” the judge told him.
“You were a man on a mission. You were out of control.”
Morris – currently living in Ringway, Neston – had gone to her home intent on causing trouble, the judge said.
The victim required surgery to her nose, had black eyes and bruising and cuts to the forehead.
In a victim impact statement, she told how she feared going out alone and had since been prescribed medication for panic attacks.
The incident also led to the loss of a new job.
She had been taken on, on the basis of a three-month trial, but her employers had to let her go because of the time off she had to take as a result of the attack.
