Pupil of Ysgol Bro Carmel, Holywell, wins camcorder in Airbus competition

A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl has won a camcorder for her village school.

Maisie Williams of Ysgol Bro Carmel, near Holywell, won the prize after entering a drawing competition run by Airbus graduates at this year’s Flintshire Festival of Youth Sport.

Youngsters were asked to design an aircraft of the future.

Maisie impressed judges with her ‘flower power’, which had vibrant colours and a range of eco-friendly features.

Jo Garbutt, headteacher at Ysgol Bro Carmel, said: “I’m thrilled with Maisie’s achievement and I’m delighted with Airbus’s commitment to both the school and the local community, which is outstanding.”

The camcorder was presented to Maisie during an assembly at school before the end of term.

Judith Stringfellow, community engagement manager at Airbus, said: “Airbus is committed to the local community and we are always looking for new ways to capture the imaginations of youngsters and get them excited about the future of aviation.

“We were extremely pleased to present the camcorder to Maisie after such an imaginative creation.”
