New chef aims to cook up a storm at Hawarden Estate Farm Shop

HAWARDEN Estate Farm Shop has welcomed a new chef and revamped its menu to include even more of its award-winning produce.

Toby Beevers has joined the team as executive chef and will be working in the shop as well as being involved in the development of The Glynne Arms pub, which is currently undergoing extensive renovation.

The 36-year-old, who is a member of the Welsh Culinary Team, said: “I’m really excited about the abundance of produce with which I can work. I can simply walk out into the orchard and pick apples and pears or see how the beans are coming along – it’s every chef’s dream.”

And Toby, who has previously worked as executive chef at the University of Chester and at The Chester Grosvenor, is keen to showcase the seasonal produce to its full potential.

As well as running the busy farm shop kitchen and The Glynne Arms, Toby finds time to support wife Jo’s chocolate business Kokonoir which they run from their home in Broughton.

“Luckily I enjoy being busy,” added Toby, who is also planning Hawarden Estate Farm Shop’s first gourmet evening which will take place on November 10.

He added: “It’s a three-course set menu showcasing some of our favourite seasonal produce.”
