A COMMUNITY-MINDED pensioner who volunteers her time to help vulnerable older people has been nominated for an award.
Mollie Wright, 84, of Nercwys, has been put forward for a Your Champions volunteer award by her neighbour, Jenny Christopher.
Jenny said: “Mollie spends a few afternoons each week volunteering for Age Concern in Mold.
“She goes to the office and spends a few hours on the phone talking to older people who may be housebound or on their own.
“She calls for a chat to check they aren’t lonely and I know she brings a lot of comfort to these people.”
Jenny told the Chronicle that Mollie is well known by all her neighbours and will go out of her way for anyone.
“My elderly aunt used to live next door to Mollie. I was her main carer but if I had to go anywhere Mollie would always look out for her and make sure she was OK.
“Mollie doesn’t make a big fuss about her community work and keeps it low key. She doesn’t expect praise.”
