Cricket: North East Wales U12s seize Welsh County Championship title

NORTH East Wales under 12s are Welsh County Champions after beating Mid-Glamorgan at Hoovers Cricket Club in Merthyr Tydfil.

Zonal group wins against Eryri and Mid-Wales, a 5-1 bowl-off win over Carmarthen and three-wicket semi-final victory over Cardiff and the Vale sent NE Wales into the final.

On a damp morning NE Wales made 118-8 – James Griffiths (Pontblyddyn) 32.

After tea Glamorgan were routed by Northop’s Roman Walker and Andy Oates and Lawrence Henry and Dan Shaw (Pontblyddyn).

Needing nine runs from five overs with three wickets in hand, the southerners were skittled by NE Wales.
