Football: First summer signing for Airbus UK Broughton is Jack of all trades

YOUTH remains very much at the forefront of Craig Harrison’s plans after he secured his first signing of the summer, writes DAVID BERGIN.

The Airbus UK Broughton boss has taken midfielder Jack Abraham from Flint Town United, and is hoping to add two or three more players to his squad over the next few weeks.

Harrison has done his homework on the former Liverpool FC academy player, and is impressed with the 19-year-old’s all-round ability.

“I watched him five or six times at the end of last season,” said Harrison. “He’s a great addition, he’s only a young lad and he’s enthusiastic. He’s got great quality on the ball, he’s a fit lad, aggressive and a good tackler.

“So it’s just keeping the team going, with them being young and enthusiastic, and pushing everyone else.”

The Airbus boss is delighted with the quality available to him the middle of the field and is now targeting two front men.

He said: “If you look at the midfield we’ve got, if one or two get injured then we’ve really got a strong midfielder there. Hopefully we can now bring a couple of centre forwards in.

“We are making good moves with two or three others, which is all I want. But the two or three will be good-quality signings.”

Abraham can play centre midfield, on the right wing, or right wing-back, giving the Wingmakers added options with his adaptability. He attends Roby College.

The youngster was selected for trials to the England Schools Under 18s team last year but unfortunately just missed out on the final cut.
