Football: Brynford United leave it late to beat Meliden in the Clwyd Football League

BRYNFORD United pipped Meliden 2-1 at home in the Premier Divsion of the Clwyd League.

Gareth Walsh opened the scoring for the away side in the fifth minute.

However strikes late in the second half from Will Lloyd and Jason Davies ensured United edged it.

Caerwys fell 4-0 at home to Llansannan.

Rhos United and St Asaph shared the spoils in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

Shotton Steel held Sychdyn to a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, in Division One Betws-Yn-Rhos lost 2-1 to Flint Mountain, Cerrigydrudion were well beaten by Y Glannau 4-0 and FC. Nomads won 6-2 away at Llannefydd.

A Darren Hughes hat-trick helped in-form Point Of Ayr beat Connah’s Quay Tigers 4-2, Prestatyn Rovers blitzed Abergele Dragons 8-1 and Rhyl Athletic were victorious over Bro Cernyw, by four goals to two.

In the Clwyd Reserve Division, Flint Town United Youth drew 2-2 with Holywell Town Res and Llanrwst United Res beat Caerwys Res 5-3.

Shotton Steel Res were in seventh heaven with an impressive 7-2 win over Rhuddlan Town Res.
