THE sole Deeside Sunday League game to survive the wintry weather proved to be a thrilling affair as Staveley Head Division One leaders Mechanics Arms left it late to earn a 5-5 draw at Red Lion Strollers.
The Strollers led 2-1 and 5-4 thanks to strikes from Mark Emberton, Mark Gallagher, Nathan Lavender and Ryan Ankers.
The Mechanics hit back to go 4-2 in front at one stage with a Leon Bowen hat-trick and a Joel Neale effort. But they needed a last-minute goal from Johnny Williams to ensure honours ended even.
There was further heartbreak for Strollers in injury-time when they had a goal ruled out.
