Football: FC Nomads of Connah’s Quay and former champions Holywell Town bid for FAW Trophy last eight places

FORMER holders Holywell Town and Welsh National League outfit FC Nomads of Connah’s Quay will both bid for a place in the last eight of the FAW Trophy on Saturday.

The Wellmen, currently playing in the Welsh Alliance, won the competition in 2011.

Facing Conwy in the final, the Wellmen staged one of the greatest comebacks in their history as, 2-0 down with seven minutes to go, they rallied and managed to win 3-2 with a 94th-minute strike from Tony Hogan deciding the final.

The next obstacle in their quest to recapture the trophy this season is Brymbo, who visit Halkyn Road in the fifth round North (2.30pm).

For FC Nomads the fifth round is the furthest they have gone in the competition since their formation.

They will also enjoy home advantage as they welcome Borras Park Albion to Wepre Park (1.30pm).
