Football: Flint Colts go through with win over Mynydd Isa Galaxy

ONLY one Under 12s Challenge Cup match survived in the Queensferry Sports Flintshire Junior and Youth League as Flint Colts defeated plucky Mynydd Isa Galaxy.

The Colts led 2-0 at half-time thanks to efforts from Dylan Allshorn and Jay Norbury

Ewan Whitley and Dane Shorrock found the net as Isa responded in the second half but Ryan Noble ensured the Colts went through 3-2.

Postponements affected the league programme as well, but couldn’t stop Hawker Jets (Cain Noble, Andrew Maclean, Junior Scott, Lewis Pearson 2, Aidan Counsell) securing a 6-0 win on the road at Ewloe Harriers while Deeside Phoenix beat Holywell Town Juniors 10-0.

The U13s embarked on their North East Wales FA Cup journey with round one matches dominating.

Shotton Steel won an all-Flintshire clash at Connah’s Quay Tigers 8-3, Rhys Bennett, Sam Edwards (2), George Thomas, Jake Halliwell, Kieran Jones (2) and an own goal on target for Steel while Charlie Bradley (2) and Jake Griffiths replied for the Tigers.

Hawarden Rangers also progressed at the expense of county rivals as they defeated Ysceifiog Wolves 10-1 with goals from Tom Gunson (5), Connor Richardson, Dan Fredriksen, Ryan Coney, Liam Smith and an own goal.

Broughton Super Saints came from 3-0 down at home to win a thriller 4-3 against Brickfield Rangers thanks Ryan Hughes (2), Lewis Ashley and Jack Allwood.

Flint Town Juniors (Jacob Jones, Owain Edwards, Oliver Howarth, Allan Hughes, Thomas Hyndman 2) eliminated Cefn United 6-1 but Holywell Town Juniors slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Park Youth.

With all the U14s Challenge Cup games postponed, the spotlight turned on Mynydd Isa Young Guns (Liam Davies 4, Alex Hawkins, Mark Asplet) as they beat Hawarden Rangers (Alex Deeley, Jack Rogan) 6-2 in the league.

The Flint derby saw Flint Town Juniors (Alex Shields 2, Jacob Davies, Travis White) overcome hosts Flint Town Colts (Joe Lloyd, Bradley Davies) 4-2.
