DEDICATION to charity fundraising and volunteer work earned Hawarden High School head girl Chloe Parry the Flintshire Chronicle’s Your Champions young person award.
Sixth-form student Chloe, who lives in Ewloe, has worked with Flintshire charity Save the Family, finding temporary housing and providing general education for homeless families.
Chloe, 17, staged a cake sale at the school to raise money for the organisation and took a group of students to the Save the Family HQ in Connah’s Quay so some of the children could help with the baking.
Chloe – who is sitting A-levels in English, German, maths and psychology – also raised more than £500 for Save the Family with a live music night at Hawarden High.
Teacher Helen Ellis said: "She takes great enjoyment in completing fundraising activities and finds these activities particularly rewarding. She has loved being involved in things that can directly help those in need."
In the past year Chloe has also completed her bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and raised £150 for the British Heart Foundation through a sponsored walk over the Brecon Beacons.
She will soon begin voluntary work for Barnardo’s as a ‘befriender’, providing support for young carers.
Mrs Ellis added: "Within the school she frequently helps out younger pupils within the school with maths and has started her own German language club."
