GCSE results: Alun School, Mold

THERE were celebrations all round at the Alun School in Mold today, after the school received its highest number of A* grades to date.

And the highest performing pupils scooped 12 A*s each.

Proud headteacher Ashley Jones said: “We are really pleased with another set of very good GCSE results. This year there were some terrific individual achievement performances by students and they generated our highest ever proportion of A* grades.

“It is a fitting tribute to all the hard work of the students and teachers over the past five years, and indeed prior to this in their primary schools. Enrolment sessions for our sixth form, the largest in Wales, is once again expected to be very busy over the next two days.”

Top performers were: Andrew Lamb of Mold (12 A*), Rachel Trotter of Buckley (11 A*, 4 four As) Andrew Hannington of Mold (10 A* two A), Sebastian Turner of Rhosesmor nine A* two A), Jonathan Gilsenan of Flint (eight A*, two As), Anokhi Patel of Northop eight A*, three As), Jess Broom of Gwernaffield (seven A*, four As), Catrin Davies of Mold (six A*, three As), Christina Jelley of Llanferres (six A* six As), Elin Bamber of Mold (five A*, six A), Alexander Bridges of Nercwys five A* five As) Matthew Weigh of Treuddyn (five A* five As).
