Villagers in Fynnongroyw, Flintshire, take part in street nativity play

THE story of Christmas was brought back to life on the streets of a Flintshire village last week.

The Nativity on the Streets event, organised by the parish priest of Llanasa and Ffynnongroyw, Rev Stuart Elliott, saw the nativity re-enacted by villagers.

The story was given a modern twist, with the Three Wise Men going shopping for their gifts, gossips in the street talking about the woman who’s pregnant and an irate farmer whose shepherds have left their flock.

It ended with refreshments being provided for participants in a village pub.

The Nativity on the Streets followed a similar event which was held in Greenfield last year, when Mr Elliott was vicar there.

He decided to hold the event in the village last year because the church was being refurbished – and the event was such a success that he wanted to repeat it in his new parish.
