Science success at the Alun School, Mold

SCIENCE students at the Alun School in Mold have been busy taking part in competitions.

Year 13 student Sophie Jones won a national competition run by the Royal Society of Chemistry after she was asked to describe chemistry in no more than 50 words.

Sophie hopes to go on to study chemistry at university next year.

And a group of Year 12 students won two awards in the North Wales Schools’ Education Engineering competition in Llandudno.

They were set a challenge by engineers at Toyota in Deeside and won the Energy Appreciation award and the Application of Mechanical Engineering Principles award.

Engineers will consider taking the students’ solution forward as part of production process at the plant.
