Cricket: Legends of rugby league and rugby union will clash in charity cricket match

STARS of rugby league and rugby union will clash once more in the annual Rugby Legends charity Twenty20 Cricket Challenge at Pontblyddyn Cricket Club.

The match will take place on Sunday, August 21 and is in aid of Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity for British and Irish rugby.

Sponsored by Seabrook Crisps, it will feature players from Crusaders plus rugby union World Cup winner Will Greenwood, Tim Stimpson, Henry Paul, Andy Gregory, Garry Schofield, Neil Back and Steve Hanley.

The money raised will go toward supporting mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged children in Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland and there are still sponsorship and hospitality opportunities available at The Bridge Inn.

Full details are available from Richard Greenwood on 07860 206608 or jrhgreenwood@btinternet.com.

The ground opens at 11.30am on the day and the match is scheduled to run from 2.30pm to 6pm, when there will be a prizegiving ceremony.

Full hospitality and refreshments are available throughout the day.

Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for OAPs and children and £20 for family entry (two adults and all their children).
