Football: Connah’s Quay Town make it into main draw for Welsh Cup

CONNAH’S Quay Town booked their place in the first round proper of the Welsh Cup by beating Lex XI 3-1 in the second qualifying round.

Mike Sancongeli put Lex into the lead after 10 minutes but Ben Howarth, Phil Killa and Dave Joyce ensured Quay went into the hat for the main competition.

Elsewhere there was disappointment for Flintshire sides as Hawarden Rangers went to Barmouth and Dyffryn Utd and received a 5-1 hammering, Danny Sullivan scoring a late consolation goal.

Rhydymwyn suffered a similar fate, suffering a 5-0 home loss to Denbigh Town while FC Cefn sent FC Nomads of Connah’s Quay packing 3-1.
