Clwyd Junior League: Penyffordd Pumas maintain leadership of Under 13s Division

PENYFFORDD Pumas moved a step closer to claiming the Clwyd Junior League Under 13s Division prize as they came from behind to win 5-4 at title-rivals Mold Juniors on Saturday.

The pacesetters were seemingly heading for a damaging defeat when they trailed at half-time. They bounced after the break, however, to claim a vital victory with goals from Jack Thomas, Joshua Robinson, Rhys Lloyd and Liam Hughes (2). Alex Calvert (2), Christos Pyrgas and Tom Blackwell had put third-placed Mold in front.

The Pumas were also given a run for their money in midweek by Mynydd Isa Devils, who were level at the halfway point thanks to Connall Mullen’s first-half double. But the hosts showed strength to run out 5-2 winners courtesy of Eric Thomas (2), Jack Thomas, Hughes and Lloyd strikes.

Aled Smith, Connor Charlton-Fleming, Jack Williams (2), Jon Edmonds, Ross Tate and Sam Roberts netted as second-placed Mostyn Dragons won 7-0 at home to Penyffordd Panthers.

Hitman Alex Jones (4) and Jake Cruise then fired fourth-placed Hawarden Rangers to a 5-1 home win on Saturday over Flint-Bagillt Juniors, for whom Niall Roberts reduced the arrears.
