Football: Buckley Vipers and Mynydd Isa Galaxy progress in NEWFA U12s Cup

THE first round of the North East Wales FA Cup saw great results for Mynydd Isa Galaxy and Buckley Vipers, but disappointing exits elsewhere in the under 12s competition.

The Galaxy beat visiting Johnstown Youth 10-0 with the goals shared between Callum Hughes, Ewan Whitley, Harri Wilkes, Liam Tattum, Conor Martin and Connor Horrigan.

Also heading into round two are the Vipers after a 3-1 win at Borras Park Albion with goals from George Peers, Matthew Birks and Ben Barron.

But for other Flintshire sides the cup was not a happy hunting ground.

Despite Lewis Pearson’s strike, Hawker Jets went down 4-1 at Ruthin Town.

Penyffordd suffered a 7-0 home defeat to Llay United and Holywell Town Juniors were beaten 10-0 by Chirk Youth.

Only one match took place in the Queensferry Sports Flintshire Junior and Youth League as Flint Town Colts got the better of hosts Ewloe Harriers 10-2 with goals from Jay Norbury (3), Dylan Allshorn (2), Dylan Davies (3), Scott Craig (2).

Buckley Town Juniors claimed a valuable away win at Shotton Steel in the U13s Division, with the game ending 3-1 to Buckley.

Ben Finnegan, Cameron Jones and Matthew Perry all found the net for the victors, with Ryan Jones grabbing a consolation goal for the Steel.

Lauryn Lyons hit four as Deeside Phoenix beat Saltney Town FC 5-2. Rhys Jones completed the Deeside scoring while Nathan Bowker and Sam Hewitt responded for Saltney.

Jack Allwood and Ryan Hughes built a first-half platform for Broughton Super Saints to defeat Ysceifiog Wolves 4-2.

Their goals were topped up in the second half by a Lewis Ashley brace although efforts from Kyle Jones, Will Evans and Ben Williams helped the Wolves keep the pressure on.

Mold Alex Dragons were tamed by their guests, Hawarden Rangers, as the Rangers bagged a 3-1 win.

Arron Davies, Connor Richardson and Thomas Gunson got the winning goals, Jac Morgan replying for Mold.
