Flint toddler Emmy Taylor home from Alder Hey Hospital

A BRAVE toddler who suffered 65% burns in a caravan fire, which killed her uncle and grandfather, has finally returned home after four months in hospital.

The blaze in June at Sunny Sands holiday park in Talybont near Barmouth, claimed the lives Emmy Taylor’s grandfather Robert Taylor, 58, and uncle Andrew Taylor, 26, both of Royal Drive, Flint. Her grandmother Denise Taylor was also injured, but survived.

The fire is believed to have been started by a fan heater.

Dad-of-one Andrew, had run back inside the blazing caravan in a bid to rescue his dad and niece Emmy.

Emmy, three, was eventually pulled to safety through a window by Denise and two passers-by.

After four months recovering in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital burns unit, where she received a skin graft, Emmy is back at home with parents Ian Taylor and Laura Lidford.

Her uncle Lee Taylor, said: “She’s finally home and on the road to recovery.

“She’s learning to walk again and we’ll have to wait and see how her skin knits together over the next few years.”

Staff and customers at The Ship Hotel in Market Square have raised more than £3,000 for Emmy through a series of raffles, auctions and a charity fun day and bungee jump.

Mr Taylor said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity shown by the people of Flint. ”

Landlady Kate Rush, said: “We raised £3,197.57 through a barbecue, raffle and auction, as well as the bungee jump.

“We auctioned a signed Everton football and a paint balling session amongst other things and everyone has been generous.

“The place was packed, people are very supportive of the cause.

“The response has been phenomenal. It’s a worthwhile cause.”
