AIRBUS apprentices are soaring after receiving accolades at the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards.
Christopher Matthias, 22, and 19-year-old Rhian Perrin were among those who received their honours at the manufacturing organisation’s ceremony in Port Talbot.
Christopher, from Mynydd Isa, won the Third Year Apprentice Award, having impressed the judges with his technical expertise, enthusiasm and natural talent.
He consistently achieved academically and in the workplace, and completed both his NVQ Level 3 in aeronautical engineering (airframe fitting) and his national certificate in aerospace studies (mechanical).
Rhian, from Wrexham, was First Year Apprentice runner-up.
Others to be honoured included James Flanagan, 19, and Robert Owens, 29, from Wrexham, who was Final Year Apprentice runner-up.
Gareth Jenkins, chairman of EEF in Wales, said: “These apprentices can be proud of what they have achieved.
“They are a credit to themselves and their employers and excellent role models for young people and adults considering a career in industry.”
