JOHN Bell, one of six children whose father was a boiler cleaner at Cammell Laird shipyard, left secondary school at 15 without any qualifications and spent the next 20 years in industry, with some periods of unemployment.John graduated from the University of Keele in 1987 with a degree in economics and politics. Since then he has lived in Wrexham and worked in education both at secondary school level – teaching economics, business studies and politics – and as a lecturer at the Welsh College of Horticulture.John then joined Deeside College, training staff at Airbus. He is currently training staff in schools, nurseries and also unemployed people on back-to-work schemes.He was a Conservative candidate in the 2005 General Election in Delyn. John passionately believes a poor start in life shouldn’t mean a life restricted or dependant on the state. Education is, he believes, the key to enabling people to achieve anything they aspire to and the answer to most of the problems facing our society.Read
